Should we as a society work tirelessly to protect those who are weaker, smaller, and unable to protect themselves? Yes!! 1 in 3 is a conservative estimate of total girls in America that are sexually abused. 1 in 6 boys are also sexually abused. That is hard to comprehend, but I believe those numbers to be accurate if not conservative. The quick answer for WHY is that humans are sinful.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Due to mankinds rebellion against God and sin entering the world we now have death, pain, and suffering. Sin is the root of all of the worlds evils. God provided an way to atone for sin when Jesus (God in the flesh) came and died on the cross to pay the penalty for those who would believe in Him.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Those who don’t believe (faith in Jesus work on their behalf) still have the wrath of God abiding on them.
To go a little deeper-children are easier victims for sinful humans to prey on. Children often times are easy to manipulate, control, abuse, and intimidate.
James 1:27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction,
and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
Psalm 103:6 The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.
The Bible has a lot of say on this topic and as Christians we should take up the cause of those who cannot defend themselves more fervently! Children represent us as believers who are totally reliant on God! We cannot do anything for ourselves spiritually-just as many of these children cannot do anything for themselves physically. Yes would should fight against these injustices, but we should never neglect preaching the only message of hope and love that has eternal ramifications (the Gospel) in all of our social efforts.
